Applications are invited for a full time post for a Consultant in Anaesthesia with a special interest in Paediatric Anaesthesia. The successful applicant would join a team of 7 (FTE) paediatric subspecialty anaesthetists who undertake a mix of paediatric and adult practice and cover a paediatric anaesthetic on call rota.   • (pro-rata for a part-time appointment) to the successful candidate, paid on commencement of post. This is in addition to the usual Relocation expenses available to Consultant staff. Terms and conditions apply.

The Trust operates job share and flexible working., The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. The appointee will take his/her share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of anaesthesia. This will include provision for peri-operative assessment. In addition to duties within sub-speciality, the appointee will be required to provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to his/her training and experience. There is an on-call commitment of approximately 1:7. This provides a paediatric anaesthetic service for out-of-hours emergency surgical cases, and for the initial management and stabilisation of critically ill children (together with paediatricians and adult intensivists) prior to retrieval by the Paediatric Retrieval Service (PaNDRS). All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management. Travelling to work Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours. We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity. The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect. The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details. The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.
