Full Job Description
Applications are invited Consultant Ophthalmologist with a subspecialty interest in Glaucoma. The post is 10 Programmed Activities per week, primarily based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe, with some sessions at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich.
The post holder will also contribute to general ophthalmology clinics, participate in the emergency on-call rota, and engage in teaching, audit, governance, and service development. The Consultant will work collaboratively to promote a positive multidisciplinary culture and support workforce development.
The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practise. The applicant must also be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training., This is one of several Ophthalmology Consultant posts currently available at Mid Cheshire Hospitals. We are excited to welcome innovative, enthusiastic individuals who are keen to contribute to a supportive, friendly, and forward-thinking department., The Consultant will lead the Glaucoma service, providing expert assessment, medical, laser, and surgical management, including trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage device procedures. They will maintain responsibility for patients, manage complex cases autonomously, and supervise Specialist Glaucoma practitioners. Leadership duties include reviewing pathways, addressing delays, and supporting elective recovery, ensuring high-quality outpatient and surgical care.
