Barts Health NHS Trust Clinical Support Services Imaging Service Group Consultant in General Radiology with subspeciality interest in Interventional Radiology 10 PA's We are looking for 1 Consultant in General Radiology with subspeciality interest in Interventional Radiology to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists with diverse expertise in a busy department and a strong record in teaching, mentoring and training. The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive cross-sectional and diagnostic radiology service, & a general radiology experience is necessary as well as experience in interventional radiology. Barts Health NHS Trust is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospital trusts in Britain as well as being the home of London's Air Ambulance Service. The Trust incorporates St Bartholomew's Hospital, The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals, Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital. Main duties of the job The post will be based at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of BartsHealth NHS Trust., Research and teaching activities are encouraged and supported by the active academic department and there is a highly successful training programme with registrars.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent general radiology skills including US, CT, plain film reporting, fluoroscopy and MRI, as well as having the relevant subspecialty interest as above. Applicants should be GMC registered & ideally able to commence in the very near future. There is a general on-call commitment is envisaged in relation to this post but no out-of-hours interventional radiology on-call.,
- MB BS or equivalent
- FRCR or equivalent
- CCT (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register Knowledge Essential
- Evidence of extensive experience in diagnostic radiology as well as non-Vascular & Vascular IR
- Training in relevant subspecialty for the post, eg. a formal IR fellowship. Desirable
- Evidence of participation in relevant regional MDTs & meetings
- A 2nd subspeciality, in particular neurology or cardiac radiology Clinical Governance Essential
- Knowledge of NHS complaints system Record of incident and near miss reporting Desirable
- Training in root cause analysis Participation in incident investigation
- Simulated patient safety training Published audits Radiation Protection experience Training / Management/Audit Experience Essential
- Audit experience
- Track record of recent QI projects Desirable
- Formal subspeciality record. Recorded log of independently performed vascular procedure Academic Achievements/Research/Publications Essential
- Experience of research, presentations to learned societies
- Record of presentations at specialist societies Desirable
- First author publications in refereed journals Higher degree Research grants Grant applications, Presentation skills
- Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity and appreciation of ethical dilemmas Person Specification Qualifications Essential
