Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join TransPlus, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's innovative, community-informed gender health service, as a Consultant within our multidisciplinary team. We welcome applications from consultants working in specialties relevant to gender dysphoria and gender-affirming care, including HIV Medicine, Sexual Health, Endocrinology, Psychiatry and other related disciplines. TransPlus provides holistic, person-centred care for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people across London and is founded on principles of inclusivity, co-production, clinical excellence and reducing health inequalities. The successful candidate will play a key role in the continued development of gender dysphoria services, working alongside a highly skilled MDT to shape and deliver innovative pathways that improve access, experience and outcomes for patients, while upholding the values and ethos that have made TransPlus a nationally recognised leader in
gender health care.
The consultant will divide their time between TransPlus and their substantive specialty, bringing expertise from their clinical field while contributing to the delivery and ongoing development of innovative, multidisciplinary gender health services for trans and gender-diverse people across London.
The post holder will provide assessment and diagnosis of gender dysphoria, in the role of a 'lead clinician' as per Appendix H of the NHSE Service specification: Gender Identity Services for Adults (Non-Surgical Interventions). They will formulate treatment plans for those who meet the diagnostic criteria, as well as providing endorsement for gender affirming surgery where appropriate. They will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, pharmacists and resident doctors to provide holistic and safe care for the duration of the patient's care under TransPlus. They will regularly attend multi-disciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and ongoing service delivery. It is anticipated that the post holder will partake in research and audit within TransPlus.
The post-holder will be required to build on existing close relations with colleagues and allied organisations as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will also be required to participate in quality improvement, research and management of the service. It is anticipated that the post-holder will engage in specific management tasks and contribute to monthly departmental meetings in agreement with the Clinical Lead.
They will also be expected to work alongside the other consultants in providing educational supervision for the multidisciplinary team and participate in Wednesday morning educational activities.
