Full Job Description

The candidate will join a team of four substantive colorectal surgeons (these posts will provide 6 Surgeons with colorectal interest). The post holder will work as part of the team to provide surgical treatment for a range of colorectal conditions that are treated at Barnsley Hospital.

Core Clinical Duties are rostered in line with local job planning guidance and include:

Regular operating theatre lists

Approximately 1-2 outpatient clinics per week

Weekly MDT meeting (Wednesday AM)

24 hour on call every 2 weeks (non-resident overnight). Maybe subject to change.

Weekend on call every 8 weeks. Maybe subject to change.

Endoscopy sessions weekly or every 2 weeks, ideally with agreement to support Endoscopy training.

Clinical administration sessions.

Core SPA time.

Options to support and lead on other departmental roles available/NHS responsibilities.

At Barnsley Hospital, you will be joining a forward thinking, friendly and supportive team of consultants, junior medical staff, allied health professionals, specialist nurses, Cancer services team, including MDT co-ordinators, and administrative staff.This post will appeal to an appropriately trained surgeon, ie you will be expected to have CESR or have an exam date within 6months of interview date, who has a proven sub-specialty interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, ideally pelvic floor repair and robotic experience.The appointee will have the enthusiasm to work with colleagues and be innovative to develop the service in line with national guidance.
