Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be required to:

-assist with delivering high quality endocrine care

-participate in endocrinology outpatient clinics

-provide support to endocrinology specialist nurse team

-contribute to MDTs, grand round, audit and medical hot case review meetings

-provide senior medical cover for inpatients with general medical conditions

-participate in general medicine on-call rota/outlier cover

-support learning and development of junior medical staff and specialist nurse teams

Applicants should be on the GMC specialist register or be eligible for inclusion on the register within six months of the interview date and have MRCP or equivalent. Applicants should also have extensive experience in working with young adults with endocrine conditions through clinical exposure or research

UHB is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population. We provide nationally recognised specialised services in Endocrinology with close links with the University of Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Endocrinology department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. There is one full time consultant post available at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital due to maintenance and expansion of existing services. We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and skilled individual who is passionate about delivering and shaping high quality care within Endocrinology with a special interest in the care of adolescents and young adults with endocrine conditions including late effects. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting endocrinology across outpatient services, including general medicine and on-call. There is also the opportunity to explore sessions in the young adult diabetes service.

The Young Adult Endocrinology Service at QEHB links closely with clinical genetics, fertility, gynaecology and paediatric endocrinology and oncology through MDTs and joint clinics. We have dedicated clinics for young adults treated for cancer in childhood; young adults with pituitary conditions;young women with PCOS and other endo gynae conditions including Turner Syndrome; young people with DSD including CAH, as well as other presentations., University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust strives to have an inclusive culture where everyone feels like they belong, can thrive, knows that they add value and feels valued.
