Full Job Description

We are seeking a Consultant Community Paediatrician to provide specialist assessment and management for children with neurodevelopmental conditions, long-term disabilities, complex health needs, and to conduct child protection medical assessments and initial health assessments for Children in Care (CIC) in Peterborough and North Cambridgeshire.
The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, therapists, nurses, psychologists, education partners, and safeguarding rota arrangements. It is primarily based in Peterborough and North Cambridgeshire (Huntingdonshire & Fenland).
Job Purpose

Asses health needs of looked-after children (including adoption) in Peterborough.
Identify health needs and develop appropriate health plans.
Develop and deliver neurodevelopmental / neuro-disability paediatric services in North Cambridgeshire (Wisbech and Fenland).
Contribute to the safeguarding medical rota based at Oaktree Centre, Huntingdon.
Provide flexibility where possible to accommodate flexible working arrangements., Undertake statutory CIC/adoption health assessments, including children with complex healthcare needs primarily in Peterborough and supporting CIC in Cambridgeshire.
Formulate individual healthcare plans and adoption reports.
Advise other agencies about health management of looked-after children.
Support the child protection medical service across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Support neurodevelopmental and neuro-disability pathways of care in the north of the county.

Communication and Teamwork
The post holder must possess excellent spoken and written communication skills to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff across health, education, and social care.
People Management

Maintain professional development through annual appraisal.
Teach and supervise trainees, including medical students and paediatric specialty trainees.
Promote good medical practice through supervision, education, quality reviews, and clinical leadership.

Research & Development

Engage in research, service development, and evaluation with support from the CCS Research Team.
Participate in internal CPD activities and multidisciplinary training.
Contribute to the Community Paediatric Clinical network and educational meetings across the East of England.

Clinical and Practice Governance

Maintain confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act.
Comply with Trust information governance and security policies.
Adhere to risk assessment, infection control, and emergency preparedness procedures.
Be registered with the GMC and maintain professional registration.
Complete mandatory training and participate in clinical and safeguarding audits.

Safeguarding People
All staff must develop and maintain safeguarding competencies and comply with local safeguarding arrangements. Employees who are registrants have a professional duty of care to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
