Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Clinical Scientist to join our dynamic Nuclear Medicine department at Coventry. The role will manage the Nuclear Medicine physics team and play a key role in the development and management of the department.

The department has recently gone through an equipment refresh, with an Omni Legend 32 digital PET scanner, a Starguide gamma camera, the Aurora SPECT CT, as well as the Optima SPECT CT camera. We have an onsite Radiopharmacy, with a Technetium suite, and a Gallium suite for PET imaging.

We undertake SIRT, Lu-177 Dota and PSMA molecular radiotherapy, as well as I-131 ablation and thyrotoxicosis therapy. We're involved in several research projects and trials and are keen to raise our research portfolio and profile.

Our friendly team comprises of administrative staff, nurses, technologists, radiographers, physicists, healthcare assistants and radiologists.

A full UK driving license is essential for this post. Please note that an international driving license is not accepted.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert scientific and technical advice, as a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) and Medical Physics Expert (MPE), to ensure that NHS Trusts and other organisations can meet their statutory obligations.

The post holder will also be a lead expert in all aspects of the Nuclear Medicine Physics equipment and quality control programme. They will design, maintain and manage a comprehensive independent commissioning, quality assurance and calibration programme for all ionising radiation equipment. They will manage the Physics staff within Nuclear Medicine.

The post holder will undertake research, optimisation and development within all aspects of Nuclear Medicine with the aim of improving patient management and patient and staff safety.
