Full Job Description
- To provide expert neuropsychological and rehabilitation assessments of patients, based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in the client's care. Clinical work may require intense concentration over prolonged periods in a potentially constrained position and will frequently involve working with highly distressed patients.
- To make highly skilled evaluations about treatment options including elective surgery in conjunction with the MDT taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models, psychometric data and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
- To administer a range of highly specialised neuropsychological and psychometric tests assessing cognitive functions and emotional wellbeing, including setting up and manipulating materials involving fine motor dexterity; conducting prolonged observations of clients' abilities, emotional state and behaviour during neuropsychological examinations with commensurate recording, documentation and appropriate dissemination of clinical findings and opinion. Working for our organisation The Neuropsychology department is situated in the Russell Cairns Unit on Level 3 of the John Radcliffe West Wing and is built on strong teamwork. Each neuropsychologist has responsibility for designated specialist clinics with associated MDTs and is expected to share the general referral demand as appropriate. The department works closely with colleagues in Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neuroradiology and Neuropathology, as well as with colleagues in Psychological Medicine.
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or a statement of equivalency in Clinical Psychology awarded by the BPS.
- Full HCPC registration and license to practice as a clinical psychologist.
- Substantial experience working as a clinical neuropsychologist
- BPS Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology Desirable criteria
- Substantial experience of working in a consultative role within an MDT.
- Experience of working as a neuropsychologist in an epilepsy surgery MDT.
- Experience of conducting the WADA test.
- Experience of pre and post assessment in relation to awake craniotomy for brain tumour., You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
