Consultant Cardiologist - Interventional (PCI)

Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist with advanced training and expertise in PCI. This post is within the Cardiology Department/Medicine Division of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. The post is principally designed to support the delivery of emergency and elective PCI. The interventional service includes primary PCI and a developing complex PCI programme, including rotablation, Impella-supported PCI and CTO PCI. Applicants should have broad training in all aspects of Cardiology. The candidate will be expected to take part in the General Cardiology service on the wards and in out-patients. The on-call rota is currently manned by 7 Interventional Cardiologists, with no separate General Cardiology on-call. There are plans to increase the on-call rota frequency to 1:8 in the near future. The non-interventional Cardiologists deliver comprehensive weekend ward rounds including visits to the Acute Medical Unit to review new referrals. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share, while recognising that the full-time post attracts up to a 10 PA job plan. · Specialist Practice: Join and contribute to the delivery and further development of a high-volume local PCI service, including elective, inpatient and primary PCI. · Complex PCI: Opportunity to contribute to complex PCI activity including rotablation, Impella-supported PCI and CTO PCI. · Emergency Service: Participate in the provision of 24/7 primary PCI on a 1 in 7 basis (with plans to make this 1 in 8 in the near future). · Flexible Job Planning: Full-time 10 PA job plan, with flexibility to consider part-time or job-share arrangements; additional PAs may be agreed where appropriate. · Regional Links: Strong collaborative links with regional cardiothoracic and cardiology services, particularly in Plymouth and Exeter. · Protected SPA Time: 2.5 SPAs in Year 1 and 1.5 SPAs thereafter, in line with the Trust job-planning framework., Enjoy an outstanding quality of life in a place that offers surfing beaches and fishing harbours to beautiful countryside and historic towns.
