Full Job Description
This post is fundamentally a training post, however, would support a trained Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer in Breast and / or support additional training to complete said training.A Band 8a Trainee Consultant will be considered if we are unable to find a suitable Trained Consultant. The Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer Trainee will work towards becoming an independent consultant practitioner providing a highly specialised, complex and comprehensive radiotherapy service to patients within breast oncology. Working within codes of practice and professional guidelines, the post holder will have freedom to act, assess and treat a specialised caseload of patients from referral to follow up including survivorship.
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates - If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP., 1. To practice at a consultant level providing expert and specialised care for patients receiving radiotherapy for breast cancer, with a very high degree of autonomy and responsible for patient management through the entire radiotherapy pathway.
2. To act as core member at MDT meetings with responsibility for treatment decision making and managing direct referrals of patients requiring radiotherapy within site specialism.
3. To lead outpatient clinics, carrying out appropriate clinical assessment and consultation of patients referred to you, including gaining informed consent for treatment. May be required to carry out some clinics away from UHCW to support training and development under an honorary contract.
