Consultant Breast Radiologist

o Maintenance of the highest, evidence-based clinical standards in the delivery of Radiology services for the Trust and the local community.o Active member of team delivering West Suffolk breast screening according to NHS BSP standardso Teaching and training of Radiology SpRs, Radiographers, Medical Students, SAS doctors and other staff as appropriate.o To participate actively in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.o To participate actively in continuing professional development (CPD) and Trust Appraisal and Revalidation Process., Breast imaging is separate from the main imaging department in a dedicated single-site breast unit within the West Suffolk Hospital site, co-located with the breast surgical team, breast care nurses and support staff. We provide the breast symptomatic service and the NHS Breast Screening Programme to West Suffolk. There are two mobile vans where most of the screening is performed. The static department benefits from 3 mammography units, a mixture of Hologic and GE. Tomosynthesis, tomo-guided vacuum biopsy and excision and Ultrasound guided vacuum excision are performed. Contrast mammography is available on equipment and implementation planned. There are two ultrasound rooms (Siemens and Canon). MRI breast (GE) is performed and reported on site, using Terarecon software, MRI biopsy is outsourced via agreed pathway. • MBBS or equivalent
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC specialist register in Clinical Radiology or be eligible for entry (within six months of attaining Certificate of Completion of Training) at the time of interview and hold a licence to practice.
Desirable
• Any other relevant qualifications.
Experience Essential
• Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining CCT in Clinical Radiology.
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
• Experience in running MDTs.
• Experience of implementing IRMER Regulations.
Desirable
• Interests to compliment the department.
Knowledge Essential
• All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues which could be demonstrated by one of the following: - - PLAB 1 - PLAB 2 If applicants believe that they have adequate communication skills, but do not fit into one of the examples they need to provide evidence.

  A vacancy for a full time Consultant Breast Radiologist with an interest in breast imaging has arisen at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. The exact programmed activities can be negotiated. The post holder will join the other 26 Consultant Radiologists in providing a comprehensive radiology service to patients in West Suffolk and its environs.
