Consultant Anaesthetist

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Anaesthesia at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH).6.25 Programmed Activities will be offered - 5.25 Direct Clinical Care and 1 Supporting Professional Activities.The specific job plan will be developed in partnership between the needs of the department and the successful applicant. It is expected that the initial job plan will be reviewed after 6 months of service. Initial job plan will include sessions within all major units at the RNOH including theperipheral nerve injury unit, sarcoma unit, joint replacement unit, spinal unit, shoulder unit, foot & ankle unit and the preoperative assessment department. Candidates must be able to demonstrate clinical experience at either fellowship or consultant level for anaesthesia for complex orthopaedic and spinal surgery.Job plans may be changed to accommodate where possible the specific requests of the candidate and the needs of the department., Non-fixed commitments include:

To join the team of consultant anaesthetists who provide anaesthesia at RNOH

To provide pre and post-operative care

To participate in the teaching of trainee anaesthetists

To participate in postgraduate academic meetings of the anaesthetic department and departmental audit

To attend consultant administrative departmental meetings

To undertake audit of personal practice

To improve service delivery and participate with clinical governance in line with local and national guidelines

To undertake research
