Full Job Description
The post-holder will provide medical leadership to the team on Turner LDA ward a 12-bedded low secure ward within the new Shaftesbury building in Springfield Hospital. The Consultant will work closely with the ward manager and the wider service to ensure safe, efficient and effective service delivery that meets the Trust's Key Performance Indicators and the SLP Forensic PC objectives. From January 2022 this unit will be housed in a state-of-the-art new secure building on the Springfield Hospital site. The ward has been suitably adapted to provide the optimal environment in which to deliver care and treatment to patients with intellectual (learning) disabilities who may also have Autism. The service is provided by a full specialist multidisciplinary team equipped to effectively assess and treat coexisting mental disorders in this group and to provide appropriate therapies. The Consultant will carry overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, treatment and rehabilitation focused care delivered by the Team. Where problems arise, the Consultant will be afforded robust support by the service Matron, Associate Clinical Director, the Clinical Director and where necessary the Medical Director and Chief Executive, Medical leadership, working in the multi-disciplinary team and working closely with, and providing cross-cover to other Consultant Psychiatrists and occasionally their Associate Clinical Director within the service line.
