Construction Director

Are you a proven Construction Director or Senior Construction Leader ready to take ownership of multiple high-volume residential developments? Do you thrive on delivering quality homes safely, on programme, and within budget whilst building and leading high performing site teams?
As Construction Director, you will lead and inspire the Construction function across multiple developments in Yorkshire, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a pivotal leadership role within the business, working closely with the Regional Managing Director and wider senior leadership team to influence strategy, drive operational excellence, and support the continued growth of the company.
You will oversee Contract Managers, Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and wider site teams, creating a culture focused on performance, accountability, safety, and quality.
Responsibilities:Leading Construction OperationsDriving build programmes across multiple developmentsEnsuring sites are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to exceptional quality standardsMonitoring build performance, programme milestones, and operational efficiencyIdentifying and resolving critical path issues before they impact delivery
Delivering Quality & Customer SatisfactionChampioning build quality across all developmentsEnsuring excellent NHBC audit performanceWorking collaboratively with Sales and Customer Service teams to enhance the customer journeyRegularly visiting developments to maintain visibility and standards
Commercial & Strategic LeadershipSupporting business growth as part of the senior management teamManaging budgets, build costs, WIP, and resource planningWorking closely with Commercial teams on subcontractor and supplier performanceMaximising revenue opportunities through effective programme delivery
Building, Leading & Supporting High-Performing TeamsRecruiting, mentoring, and developing construction professionalsDriving performance, accountability, and engagement across teamsSupporting career development and succession planningCreating a culture where excellence is recognised and encouraged
Health & Safety LeadershipLeading from the front on Health & Safety compliance and cultureEnsuring safe working practices across all sites and teamsCollaborating with H&S teams to identify training and development needsPromoting a proactive approach to risk management and site safety

About you:We are looking for an influential construction leader who can balance operational delivery with strategic thinking.You will ideally have:A strong track record within residential housebuilding or construction leadershipExperience managing multiple live developments and site teamsExcellent leadership and communication skillsStrong commercial awareness and budget management capabilityThe ability to make informed decisions under pressureA proactive, solutions-focused mindsetExperience improving build quality and customer satisfactionStrong planning and organisational skillsDesirableConstruction or management qualifications relevant to the roleExperience working within fast-paced residential environmentsStrong subcontractor and stakeholder management experience
