Full Job Description
GDUK (LS) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Configuration Engineer to support the ongoing delivery of the AJAX In-Service Programme. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of engineering spares data across the programme. Working closely with engineering teams, suppliers, partners, and the customer community, you will champion configuration management best practice and maintain high-quality configuration records across multiple systems. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual with strong technical awareness, excellent communication skills, and experience in configuration or engineering change environment.

Discipline Description
Responsibilities Include · Develop and maintain Engineering Spares Bills of Material (SBOMs), ensuring all required metadata is accurately captured to support precise costing and efficient scheduling of spares activities across the programme.· Ensure full traceability from the Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM) to the SBOM, maintaining alignment and data accuracy throughout the process.· Interpret and analyse CAD, Engineering drawings and in-service documentation, including Interactive Electronic Technical Support Publications (IETPs), to verify the accuracy and completeness of spares data.· Collaborate closely with partners, suppliers, and customers to address configuration-related issues and provide ongoing support across the programme lifecycle.· Promote and support the effective use of PDM (PTC Windchill), offering user guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and encouraging best practice within engineering teams.· Provide configuration management expertise to programme
teams, ensuring compliance with internal processes, governance requirements, and recognised industry standards.· Work across multiple business systems, including PDM and Oracle, to maintain accurate, up-to-date configuration records aligned with programme and customer requirements
Required Skills & Abilities Essential:· Team working - team player, optimistic and has a collaborative approach to working with others, to ensure products are delivered on time and business goals are met· Communication - Good communicator, excellent inter personal skills with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally· Problem Solving and planning - adapting to the ever changing environment and reacting quickly to meet business challengeso Good Customer Service skills o IT/database skillso Windchill PDM · Self Management - ability to be autonomous in your approach with a can-do attitude, and have a flexible approach to working hours to ensure a consistent level of support to the customero Requirement - You will hold or be eligible to hold UK SC clearance, Required Education & Experience · A background In Service Support /change management, particularly military vehicles · Experience of working in an engineering/manufacturing organisation in a configuration role · Demonstrated experience managing engineering change within complex, high-value programmes· Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment in a configuration-focused role, · Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and professionally with Lead Engineers, Programme Managers, Customers, and Suppliers. · Strong technical awareness and understanding of engineering tools and applications. · Hands-on experience as a PDM system administrator or super-user, supporting users and promoting best practice. · Proficiency in Oracle ERP systems, with experience navigating and maintaining engineering-related data.· HNC or NVQ level 4 in an Engineering or science discipline and working
knowledge of or similar nature.
