Compliance Officer 12 month fixed term contract - to start as soon as possible 37.55 hours per week Salary from £42,000 - £48,000 fte Flexible working arrangements The Compliance Officer plays a vital role in supporting the school's leadership team by ensuring that we meet our statutory and regulatory obligations. You will work closely with the Head, Bursar and Designated Safeguarding Leads and take the lead on promoting a culture of compliance awareness throughout the school. This is a full-time role ideal for a self-motivated professional ideally suited to someone who thrives on detail, enjoys keeping systems running smoothly, and wants to help safeguard the operational strength and integrity of a values-led school. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements with a minimum of 2 days a week on site. About the Role: As Compliance Officer, you will play a vital part in supporting the school's leadership by ensuring that we meet our statutory and regulatory obligations across key areas including:
- Safeguarding and safer recruitment
- Health and safety
- Data protection (UK GDPR)
- Independent School Standards (ISSRs)
- Inspection readiness and policy management You will be the go-to person for compliance matters, working closely with the Head, Bursar, and Designated Safeguarding Leads to promote a culture of best practice, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key requirements Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in the UK independent school sector. Proven experience in a compliance, governance, or risk management role. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage priorities. Discretion and integrity, particularly in handling sensitive information. Prior experience in a school, education or legal background environment would be helpful but not essential. Why join us?
