Full Job Description

Our Compliance Monitoring Officers will ensure that the business adheres to all operational requirements related to the Operator Licence (O-Licence). Acting as a subject matter expert, you will be named Transport Manager on designated Severn Trent Operators Licences, working closely with operational teams and the Central Fleet Compliance team to maintain the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. You will conduct independent reviews across operating centres, verify adherence to the 11 O-Licence undertakings, and support continuous improvement through clear reporting, proactive issue identification, and collaborative policy development. This role is essential in upholding safe operations, promoting a strong compliance culture and ensuring all licence undertakings are consistently met across the business. Your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Visit operating centres to independently assess compliance processes, documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Provide regular compliance reports to operational leadership teams and support formal audits, reporting any non-compliance.
  • Review key areas such as driver and vehicle documentation, vehicle defect reporting, drivers' hours compliance, load security, qualifications, safety culture, medical processes, and gate checks.
  • Support rollout of new compliance processes, procedures, and operational training.
  • Assist operational teams with driver briefings and understanding of company compliance policies.
  • Ensure that operational teams have scheduled driver CPC training and monitor compliance to ensure that drivers complete the recertification process every 5 years.

To be successful in this role, you will require:
  • A valid Transport Managers CPC Qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of transport compliance regulations (O-Licence).
  • Background in Fleet Operations.
  • Experience in compliance monitoring or transport operations (desirable).
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and advise operational teams how to implement.
  • Strong analytical and auditing skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement, and we're equally proud of our strong Glassdoor score - reflecting how much our people love working here.

It's not just a job; it's a career. We offer benefits that reward great work and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. Plus, you'll contribute to the environment and community too. Here are some of our favourites:
