Full Job Description

Powys County Council is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated and creative individual to develop the strategic transformation of its Community Wellbeing Services in a way which maximises opportunities to support the mental and physical wellbeing of residents and ensures the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the services for the long-term future.

To support the Service Manager with ensuring alignment with Adult Social Care (ASC), Children's Services (CS), Schools Transformation, other Council priorities and the Sustainable Powys programme.

Community Wellbeing encompasses leisure services, sports development and cultural services (libraries, museums, archives and arts)., Work with the Community Wellbeing team, partners and communities to develop and deliver a vision and an active strategy for Powys which prioritises prevention and promotes the benefits of being physically and mentally active in a wide variety of ways for residents of all ages.

To drive the development of sustainable, community-focused wellbeing services that improve resident outcomes, strengthen early intervention and prevention, and support long-term service viability.

Lead design workshops and engagement to explore needs and shape the future with a strong focus on the prevention agenda and driving down demand on health and social care

Work closely with property colleagues, other services, schools and community partners to develop asset-based service delivery proposals, considering future sustainability and affordability in the communities across Powys

Review the existing leisure contract and develop the specification in readiness for a tender process

An enthusiastic and effective collaborator, comfortable working with different operational teams, internal and external partners and residents, and able to pitch proposals and pilots effectively to prospective partners

You must have the ability to be a strong, creative and enthusiastic leader with the ability to excite teams, taking people with you on the journey

You need to be a clear communicator, to be able to explain what we are going to achieve and listen to the thoughts and ideas of colleagues, partners and residents

You should be open to feedback and change - the first idea that's tested probably won't be the best and last one

You like challenges, enjoy developing change, looking for a way to stretch your skills and get things done
