Full Job Description

To provide a highly visible uniformed presence, acting as a 'Council Ambassador'. Engaging with the public using the towns, parks, and open spaces, delivering excellent customer service when dealing with queries face to face, via phone, email, social media, providing advice and support to local residents and where necessary referring/signposting to relevant agencies. To support and engage with all community safety partners and relevant WDC service areas and teams, with a collective aim of reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and protecting vulnerable people from harm. This role includes supporting the delivery of the animal warden function involving the collection of stray dogs. To actively support police, street pastors, CCTV Team, and other partner agencies in the safe management of the night-time economy and transition from day to evening. To conduct intelligence led patrols in locations identified as hotspots for anti-social behaviour, serious violence, violence against women and girls and other crime types. Which will in turn provide reassurance to the local community and disrupt and deter would-be perpetrators. To issue Fixed Penalty Notices objectively and accurately in relation to all of the district's Public Spaces Protection Orders, collating all necessary supporting evidence, in accordance with relevant legislation. To be prepared to be a witness in court. To accurately record incidents, intelligence and patrols using WDC's reporting systems. To contribute to the wider remit of the Community Safety Team in delivering the priorities of the South Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership.

The Community Warden Team sits within the Community Protection Service Area. The Community Warden Team plays a significant role in reducing crime and disorder and creating a safe and attractive environment. Community Wardens will come into regular contact with members of the public who are displaying anti-social behaviour e.g., verbal abuse, aggression, drug/alcohol abuse, trespassing, rough sleeping, and begging. The post holder will therefore need to be proficient in dealing with conflict situations with those aggrieved by the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice or behaving anti-socially. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Community Warden Team, based int he Community Safety Team within the Community Protection Service Area. Community Wardens play an integral role in the prevention and reduction of low-level crime and anti-social behaviour and therefore need to be proficient in dealing with conflict situations, be a good problem solver, confident decision maker and have the ability to remain calm in emergency situations. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills. They will also be a good team player who can work using their own initiative.,

  • 5 GCSE's including English and Maths.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant industry
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to achieve this)
  • Ability to adapt to new areas of work and rapidly gain knowledge and understanding of new subject areas or systems.
  • The ability to use (or be trained to use) relevant technology. knowledge relevant to the specialism area High level of IT skills, and ability learn to use of IT systems and applications. Especially Microsoft office products, web applications and back-office database systems.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a broad cross-section of people across the organisation and with external partners.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, ability to prioritise work, solve problems both within a team and as an individual to effectively manage a varied workload.
  • Ability to achieve own targets. Proven proportionate and pragmatic problem-solving skills and ability.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skill A full UK driving license.
