Full Job Description

Are you passionate about helping people, solving problems and making a real difference to people's lives? Do you enjoy meeting people, building relationships and being part of a team that makes communities safer, stronger and more connected? If you're looking for a role where no two days are the same, where you can develop new skills and where your work genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you! Join the Kent Community Warden Service The Kent County Council Community Warden Service are recruiting for vacancies in Mid and East Kent (Swale, Thanet and Folkestone & Hythe) For more than 20 years, our Community Wardens have been making a positive difference across Kent, supporting residents, tackling local concerns and helping communities thrive. As a Community Warden, you'll be a visible, approachable and trusted presence in the community. You'll get out and about, meet people from all walks of life, build relationships and help residents find solutions to the issues that affect their everyday lives. From supporting older or vulnerable residents to helping tackle anti-social behaviour, improving community safety and connecting people with the right services, you'll play an important role in making Kent a better place to live. Every day brings a new opportunity to help someone, solve a problem or make a positive change. What will you be doing? You'll work alongside a wide range of partners, including Kent Police, Adult Social Care, Trading Standards, Libraries, Parish Councils and local authority teams, to support residents and address local concerns. Your work will focus on four key areas:

  • Building stronger, safer communities - helping residents feel safe, addressing local issues and strengthening community resilience.
  • Supporting those who need it most - helping older people, vulnerable residents and those who may be experiencing loneliness, isolation or other difficulties.
  • Bringing communities together - encouraging community participation, promoting wellbeing and helping create connected, inclusive neighbourhoods.
  • Helping people find the right support - guiding residents through public services and connecting them with the help and advice they need.
  • You'll have the opportunity to use your initiative, develop your skills and see first-hand the difference your work makes to individuals and the wider community. What are we looking for? We're looking for people who are compassionate, approachable, responsible and motivated to make a difference. You don't need to have all the answers. What matters is that you enjoy working with people, can communicate effectively, work well as part of a team and are willing to learn. If you're a good listener, a practical problem-solver and someone who cares about the place they work and the people who live there, this could be the ideal opportunity for you. Training and development You'll receive training to an accredited police standard, giving you the knowledge and skills to carry out this varied and rewarding role. As a proactive, community-facing service, Wardens are required to wear a uniform and be a visible presence in the areas they support. Ready to make a difference? If you want a job with purpose, variety and the opportunity to make a lasting positive impact, we'd love you to consider joining the Kent Community Warden Service. Take the next step towards a rewarding role supporting the people and communities of Kent.
