Full Job Description
Would you like to make a real difference to someone's life, promoting their independence and supporting them within their own home? We are looking for caring and compassionate people to join our Support at Home Service in Furness, as Community Support Workers The Support at Home service offers support to individuals recovering from illness or surgery and those facing a general decline in health. It helps prevent unnecessary hospital admissions by enabling care at home. The main goals are to promote independence, help individuals regain skills, and ensure safety while living at home. Support at Home is a 365 day a year, 7 day a week service. Typically, our shifts run between the hours of 7:30 am - 9:30 pm and are worked over a fixed fortnightly working pattern. This will include weekend and Bank Holiday rotas. About this opportunity As a Community Support Worker, you will get the opportunity to know people individually and support their wellbeing through both physical and emotional care. Responsibilities can include assisting with medication and providing personal care such as washing and dressing, meal preparation and supporting with mobility needs. Help may also be needed to establish daily routines which may include household tasks and confidence building. Depending on the individual, the level of support needed may vary but your focus will be on encouraging them to achieve or maintain independence, allowing them to remain living in their local community, in the comfort of their own home. In this role you will build positive relationships with the people you support and encourage them to connect with their local community where possible, whether this be attending a club at the local community centre or planning to go shopping. Your support will enable them to regain or retain skills and achieve the goals set out in their care plan.
- Due to the nature of this role, there will be a need to respond to Service Users who will not always be accessible via public transport. Applicants will need therefore need access to a motorised vehicle and have a full driving license. Reasonable adjustments would be considered for disabled candidates. If you would like to discuss reasonable adjustments, please contact the care services recruitment team at carerecruitment@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk
We are looking for the right people who share our vision and passion for Care to join our teams across Care Services, we'd like to hear more about your motivations, interests and values, including what attracted you to a role in Care. We can offer great opportunities to develop and build your skills to take you where you want to go at any stage of your career in Care. If you're compassionate, caring and looking for a role where you can make a real difference, we would love to speak with you!
