Full Job Description

The role will include: Identifying, supporting, planning, delivering and evaluating health promotion activities in line with the school curriculum and locally agreed priorities. Devising appropriate individualised health care plans for the school aged child through continuous development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Contribution to the assessment and review of special education and medical needs. Working collaboratively in partnership with children, young people, parents / carers and other agencies, e.g. education, social services, other healthcare workers and the voluntary sector to meet the needs of children and young people.

There are over 86,000 children and young people in Newham and we want each of them to have the same life chances as young people in other parts of London. This post is directly employed by the London Borough of Newham, who was the first London borough to offer a fully integrated 0-19 health and social care service after we assumed direct responsibility for providing School Nursing services, Health Visiting in 2017. Therefore our Children and Young People's directorate will be delivering the 0-19 Healthy Child programme through the Childrens Health Service. Newham 0-19 health service have a continual commitment, working towards improving the lives of Children and Young People in the Borough. £41,133- £43,680 Pro-rata inclusive of higher cost living allowance - LBN PO1. This is a term time only position. The Community Staff Nurse will be professionally responsible and accountable for the assessment of health needs, planning and evaluation of the school health service delivery, for both individuals and groups within a defined school age population. The job involves working in partnership with schools, parents/carers and other agencies to achieve the best health outcomes for children and young people. The School Nurse works within the School Health Service, to deliver the Healthy Child Programme. Our offer
