Community Staff Nurse Learning and Disability

To support the provision of a community service to individuals with a learning disability in a defined area of Lancashire, in order that health care needs are met and contractual agreements fulfilled. A registered learning disability nurse, with knowledge of health policy and legislation applicable to people with a learning disability and/or Autism. Adaptability, good communication skills and self-motivation are essential, alongside skills in working with people who have complex health needs, challenging behaviour and/or Autism, including demonstration that practice is evidence based and innovative.

The post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload alongside supervision of junior members of staff., An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adult's Community Learning Disability Service based in Fylde and Wyre, for a Community Learning Disability Band 5 Nurse. The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with people with Learning Disabilities and their families/carers we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives. We are committed to helping our staff-develop and you will be part of an enthusiastic and experienced team.

The post holder will be an experienced Learning Disability Nurse with knowledge and skills in supporting people with a Learning Disability with complex health needs, as well as the provision of positive behavioural support. Adaptability, good communication skills and self-motivation are essential to the role. You will also need to be able to demonstrate that your practice is evidence based and innovative.
