Job summary

A unique opportunity awaits to join the South Derbyshire and South Dales Children's service as a Band 5 Community Public Health Nurse within the 5-19 service.

We are a fast paced, innovative, dedicated team that requires skills including a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to communicate effectively. You will also need to be motivated, well organised and able to work on your own initiative and be a team player.

You will have a passion for promoting public health and supporting children, young people and their families to adopt healthy lifestyles. With a particular interest around Youth Smoking and Vaping cessation.

Applications are welcome from registered nurses, ideally with post-qualification experience, and an interest in developing their skills in working with children and their families within a community public health and multi-agency environment.

We can offer supportive mentorship arrangements, regular clinical and safeguarding supervision as well as ensuring support with continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

Our Public Health Nurses work with children and their families both in schools and in the home environment to improve health and social outcomes and make a real difference in a true multi-agency environment. Applicants must be confident in working autonomously as well as part of a team, in a variety of environments such as education, home, health and community settings.

The post is covering South Derbyshire and South Derbyshire Dales, with the office base being situated in Swadlincote. Due to the nature of the role, the applicant must be able to travel independently across the locality to deliver service and across County for training as required.

You will be an integral member of the 5-19 team, supporting the Band 6 SCPHN alongside other Community Public Health Staff Nurses in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme.
