Full Job Description
Birmingham City Council are seeking a motivated and community-focused individual to join our Strategy, Estate Regeneration & Regulatory Compliance service as Community Projects Officer. In this role, you will deliver a portfolio of projects alongside external stakeholders to build community capacity. This includes managing grant-funded programmes focused on addressing fuel poverty and financial hardship, as well as supporting local community groups through meaningful engagement and intervention activity The successful candidate will play a key role in engaging community organisations across the city to create community capacity in the voluntary sector, with a focus on addressing fuel poverty and financial hardship. Birmingham is a city facing significant deprivation, particularly across Council tenants and residents living in temporary accommodation. This role focuses on improving financial mobility and maximising voluntary sector capacity to make meaningful change in people's lives. You will be a motivated and proactive individual, with the ability to work with local communities while identifying opportunities to support the voluntary sector to deliver local services that improve the lives of those on a low-income. As well as being resident focused, you will also be highly organised, with strong project management skills.,
- Deliver a range of community projects and report on outcomes and progress.
- Work collaboratively across the Directorate to raise awareness of financial inclusion and housing-related issues.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with voluntary and statutory organisations.
- Support funding bids, grant applications and commissioning of third-sector delivery partners.
- Develop and deliver campaigns, training and engagement activities to support communities.
- Provide clear, accurate reporting on project outcomes and benefits.
- Contribute to procurement activities and support delivery of grant funding targets
- Brief local elected members on community initiatives and partnership opportunities.
- Promote and celebrate community assets, enabling voluntary and faith organisations to thrive.
You will demonstrate: - Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Experience delivering grant-funded programmes.
- Strong understanding of partnership working, including voluntary sector collaboration.
- Knowledge of local government and the political environment.
- Experience working with diverse communities and building on community assets.
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively. Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to build productive relationships with community partners.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience facilitating partnership forums and engagement sessions
- Analytical skills to interpret complex data and present clearly.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to support partners and communities effectively
