Full Job Description

The postholder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to services users across the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period within the Wantage Area and surrounding areas of Oxfordshire. They will provide care in the form of clinic appointments and home visits. Full and Part Time hours are available. Must be a car driver and have access to a car during the day and for night on-calls. You will be required to work community on-call shifts during the day and night time., Here in Oxfordshire, we offer a unique set up of our Maternity Services with around 7500 babies born annually. For those working with us, we have a substantial support network for staff, focusing on wellbeing and development. This includes a team of professional Midwifery Advocates, Wellbeing Champions, staff networks and a staff Maternity Psychologist. You will be supported by the Practice Development Team who provide regular study days and updates and support staff clinically. We genuinely believe that by supporting our staff to feel happy and offering support within their work environment, we ensure the best quality of care for the women and birthing people who access our services.

Applicants must have an existing NMC with UK Midwifery experience and have completed their preceptorship in a UK hospital. They must be currently working at a Band 6 level, We are looking for a midwife who demonstrates kindness and compassion, and who is passionate about providing community care.,

  • Registered Midwife with current UK Registration
  • Has completed NMC preceptorship and/or has worked as band 6 midwife or equivalent
  • Mentor/Practice Supervisor Qualification
  • Desirable criteria
  • NIPE Trained, Awareness of OUH community maternity services, Evidence of recent midwifery research and clinical audit, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Across Oxfordshire, we have four freestanding birth centres-located in Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage, and Wallingford-alongside a homebirth service. Our community birth rate is above the current national average at 5%. As a member of the Wantage team, you will join the community on-call rota to support the community birth service; our high birth rate offers frequent opportunities to attend community births.
