Full Job Description
The CAMHS Young Peoples Team (YPT) is a specialist service supporting young people with moderate to severe mental illness. We are seeking a Band 7 Community Psychiatric Nurse or Mental Health Practitioner for 37.5 hours per week on a 12-month secondment or fixed-term basis.
You will provide trauma-informed assessment and care for young people, including those who are looked after, adopted, or homeless. Acting as a central point for complex referrals, you will deliver consultations with carers and professionals, complete risk assessments, and develop care plans to support recovery and stabilisation.
The role includes supporting transitions for 17+ young people into adult services, delivering training to large groups, and ensuring content aligns with current research. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, carers, and local authorities, demonstrating strong communication and record-keeping skills., To be the central point for moderate to severe presentations of mental illness within adopted, looked after and homeless young people. For all substantive roles, new staff (excluding medical staff) are appointed subject to a 6-month probationary period (see Probation Policy).
All jobs will require permission to work in the UK. For all jobs the cost of any DBS disclosure required will be met by the individual. This will be deducted from salary once started.
A non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable but not essential. Applicants must demonstrate experience working with complex mental health needs and risk.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. Internal applicants must have line manager approval., To be flexible and able to provide care across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland - a driving license and access to a car with relevant insurance is required for this post.
