Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Lincolnshire County Council as Community Heritage Officer for the Roots of Kesteven partnership project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Roots of Kesteven is a developing landscape and heritage initiative focused on woodland creation, heritage, nature recovery, public access and community engagement across the Kesteven area. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual who is passionate about heritage, communities and the natural environment. The successful candidate will support the delivery of the project's scoping and feasibility phase by helping to engage local communities, partners and volunteers in shaping the future vision for the area. Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering community engagement and heritage activities
- Developing interpretation, promotional and social media content
- Supporting volunteer recruitment and coordination
- Assisting with project monitoring and evaluation
- Helping commission and oversee specialist studies and activities
- Working with local groups, landowners, parish councils and partner organisations
- Supporting the preparation of project briefs, reports and funding applications
Degree-level qualification in heritage, environmental conservation, countryside management or a related subject - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of community engagement and partnership working
- Ability to communicate heritage and environmental themes in accessible and engaging ways
- Good organisational and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ideally GIS
- A flexible and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience of working with volunteers, external funding programmes and interpretation projects would be advantageous. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape a major new heritage and landscape initiative and work with communities to celebrate and enhance the rich natural and cultural heritage of Lincolnshire., In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
