Full Job Description

Under the supervision of a registered clinician assist the team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families/carer. The post holder will undertake a range of tasks and duties as delegated by a registered nurse.

Participate in all aspects of patient care.

Provide efficient, effective and confidential administrative support to Community Diabetes Teams., Provide and receive information orally, in writing or electronically to inform work colleagues, patients, clients, carers, the public/ external contacts. Dealing with anxious patients and families. Encounters language and cultural challenges, encouraging attendance at community based clinics and education sessions .

Provide adminitrative support in managing clinics and education sessions.

To have an understanding of security/ health and safety processes and procedures, as required, relevant to the area of work.

To deal with incoming/ outgoing mail in accordance with the workplace procedures.

At the discretion of the Registered Clinician participate fully in the delivery of planned care.

Provide information to enable effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.

Provide reassurance, support to patients, family and carers.

Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

General Observations such as blood pressure, pulse, urinalysis.

The role will be varied and the successful applicant will support clinicians in community clinics and work as part of the admin team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring member of staff who is motivated and committed to working to a high standard within our clinical and administrative services.

Applicants must have good communication skills and experience of working in a Health Care setting is desirable. Applicants must have the ability to travel across the city and have a flexible approach to working hours.

Successful applicants will receive training to support them in the role.
