Are you an experienced Children's Nurse looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Community Children's Nurse to join our dynamic team delivering high-quality care across Oxfordshire. This role involves providing specialist nursing care and advice to:

  • Children with acute and short-term conditions
  • Children with long-term conditions
  • Children with disabilities and complex health needs, including those requiring continuing care and respite support
  • Children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, including palliative and end-of-life care
  • You will work in partnership with families, empowering them to confidently care for their child at home while acting as an advocate for the child's voice and best interests. Collaboration with multi-agency partners is central to this role to ensure seamless, family-centred care within the community. The role will be predominantly based in the West of Oxfordshire however as the service is a countywide service you will be required to travel across the four localities. The base to be confirmed with the candidate between Oxford, Witney, Abingdon and Banbury. Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required. This role is subject to evaluation and so some duties may change.Main duties of the job The Children's Community Nursing Team delivers a broad range of services, including respite provision, duty cover, acute care (including Hospital at Home) and palliative care, with team members contributing to all aspects of the service. Within the acute/Hospital at Home element of the role, you will undertake planned clinical assessments and interventions in line with agreed care pathways, recognising and appropriately escalating any signs of clinical deterioration. You will work closely with acute-based medical teams to support children who can be safely cared for at home. The service operates a single point of access for families and professionals; the nurse in charge triages referrals and allocates workload across localities to ensure timely and effective responses. We provide end-of-life care within the child's home environment. To support this, the team operates an on-call rota, activated when required. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided to equip you for this aspect of the role. The Children's Community Nursing Team delivers a structured rolling education programme, including a thorough induction for all new starters.
