People who work for the National Trust are as varied as all the places we care for. That's why we look for staff from all backgrounds, with a variety of skills and abilities, to help the Trust's cause. As a Communications and Marketing Officer covering the South Downs, you'll be responsible for co-ordinating and creating inspiring, mostly nature-based content for our website and social media sites. 3.75 hours per week. What it's like to work here The South Downs is a countryside property group that covers 42 sites across the National Park. Alfriston Clergy House and Monk's House are our two little gems and we also manage Birling Gap with its cliff top caf and shop. We are involved in some really exciting nature recovery projects on the Woolbeding Estate and over in the east at Chyngton Brooks as well as all the work that our rangers and volunteers undertake in woods, on heaths, on chalk grassland and at the beach. Day to day, you'll be working alongside a broad team of countryside and project staff and reporting to the General Manager. You will make a vital contribution towards telling our nature stories in the best and most engaging way. This role will be key in contributing towards the National Trust's ambitious targets to inspire millions. What you'll be doing You will be working on our website and social media accounts only. There is no expectation for any other additional communications work. Your day-to-day work will cover things like creating new content on our web pages, and making sure that existing information remains relevant and accurate, planning for and helping to run the South Downs social media accounts. We have some ambitious targets that you'll be aiming at, including reaching new and diverse audiences, so there's room for creativity and fresh ideas. You'll be working closely with your colleagues across the South Downs and the Trust's regional communications specialist delivery advisers, You'll be part of a team making sure that we're sharing the best stories we can, with a focus on spreading the word about the work that we do to restore nature and end unequal access. You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.
We'd love to hear from you if you're:
- familiar and confident with various marketing techniques, including digital and social media
- experienced in writing and speaking clearly
- someone who puts people first, and understands why great customer service matters
- skilled in working with IT (including Microsoft Office)
- good at solving problems, and able to work on your own initiative
