Full Job Description
Energy Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station. Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively. Amentum are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to work on the HPC project, to carry out roles under the profile of Instrument and Control Commissioning Engineer. Key responsibilities will be:
- Creating and developing commissioning documents
- Testing before commissioning - Inspection & Testing, Factory Acceptance Tests and Equipment Qualification
- Preparing for commissioning tests - Developing Commissioning Test Packages, Commissioning Instructions, Level 3 Logic Diagrams
- Execution of commissioning - based on-site and over seeing the full commissioning of HPC
- Completing the relevant training and opportunities to enrol onto courses to further enhance your engineering knowledge
- Meeting the Commissioning milestones deadlines for those of which relate to the role
Working knowledge of commission systems., methodologies and tools - Experience and knowledge of Best Practices Commissioning Methodologies (Nuclear preferred) with excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS) and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS)
- Demonstrative leadership skills in management of large muilti-discipline commissioning teams with specific skills in driving commissioning execution activities.
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment, Minimum: Time served relevant trade discipline or relevant NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND, supported by APEL (Applied Previous Experience and Learning).
- Preferred: BSC (Degree) in applicable engineering related subject
- Operating at the highest level within a commissioning programmes / projects environment, with a demonstrable track record of achievement. Highly proficient in own discipline/technical area, competent in a multi-discipline environment and holds the ability to provide expert guidance to colleagues.
- Understanding of the principles and theory of the specialism of the team combined with practical experience applying different approaches.
- Application of technical analysis tools and methods in solving problems of high complexity / risk.
- Development of existing technical analysis methods and provision of innovative methods or technical analysis.
- Maintains knowledge of best practice techniques within the broader industry
