Expanded Structures, the specialist reinforced concrete basement, substructure and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke, is recruiting a Senior Commercial Manager to join the team in Suffolk. Be part of this 'once in a generation' project, which will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast, providing reliable low-carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C, Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke, bringing together a single delivery organisation with extensive experience from major, complex infrastructure programmes. What will the role look like?
- Oversee commercial activities across your project section from pre-construction through to completion.
- Take responsibility for financial, contractual and commercial performance, including cost, forecasting, risk and opportunity.
- Manage and oversee major subcontract packages, including procurement, administration, change, accounts and claims.
- Lead change control and ensure commercial risks and opportunities are identified, managed and mitigated.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams, clients and supply chain partners.
- Maintain robust commercial governance, reporting and contract compliance.
- Identify and escalate issues that may impact project or business performance.
- Support continuous improvement and consistent commercial best practice.
- Provide guidance and support to the wider Commercial team.
Are you a Senior Commercial Manager with strong experience in direct project delivery? Do you have experience across civil engineering, infrastructure, nuclear or power projects? Looking for an opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes?, - Degree (or higher) qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Commercial Management; RICS membership desirable but not essential.
- Strong working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts.
- Significant commercial management background within direct delivery environments, ideally across major civil engineering, infrastructure, nuclear or power projects.
- Proven ability to manage projects through the full lifecycle, including subcontract packages, change, risk and commercial performance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams, clients and supply chain partners.
