Where will you be working?
This role will join BGEN - one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
We are strengthening our Major Projects capability and are seeking Commercial Managers with proven MEICA experience to support the delivery of large-scale, complex programmes. This is a pivotal role with direct reporting into senior leadership, offering the opportunity not only to take ownership of major projects but also to help shape and build a new commercial team as our project pipeline grows.
What will you be doing?Lead commercial management across major MEICA projects, ensuring strong financial performance, cash flow, and risk controlTake ownership of projects from pre-contract through to final accountProvide robust project controls oversight, including cost forecasting, change management, and performance reportingWork closely with project delivery teams to drive commercial strategy and informed decision-makingLead and support commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and supply chain partnersContribute to bidding, estimating, and risk reviews, ensuring commercial robustness at tender stageSupport the development of commercial best practice, governance, and consistent ways of workingPlay a key role in building and mentoring a high-performing commercial team as the function growsDevelop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted commercial advisorWhat Were Looking ForStrong experience in commercial management within MEICA or engineering-led
projectsDemonstrable track record working on large-scale projects (£50m+)Solid understanding of project controls, cost management, and commercial reportingExperience operating at Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial Manager levelAbility to work autonomously while also contributing to team leadership and developmentConfident communicator, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levelsStrong working knowledge of contracts and commercial frameworksRelevant degree or professional qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying or similar)Chartered status desirable but not essentialWhats in it for you?
