Job Overview This is a senior commercial role where the focus of the role is on delivery of annual objectives for a business or contract. The role involves coordinating several commercial units and ensuring each delivers its own objectives and business targets. At this level, the role works in a complex commercial environment involving liaising and coordination activities with critical internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers. The role has a responsibility for ensuring all commercial systems and procedures are fully deployed, implemented, and governed. Requires a skilled commercial professional with relevant knowledge of the industry. Main Duties
- Examine business commercial process & practices, identify, and resolve problems to ensure policies remain relevant and consistent with regulatory practice.
- Identify opportunities to grow the business, through partnerships or new initiatives, and work to take advantage of opportunities.
- Analyse sales and other market opportunities & reports, identify market and business opportunity insight, and identify opportunities for contract and performance improvement.
- Carry out contract risk assessments, identify and resolve contractual and commercial issues to the benefit of the contract, customer, and business.
- Understand, assess, and resolves issues with contracts and commercial activities to improve commercial performance of contracts.
- Oversee contract performance including financial KPI's, ensure financial aspects and impact of a contract are communicated to all stakeholders and stakeholders adhere to their contractual obligations.
- Assess risks and make recommendations based on a thorough analysis of all factors involved in a business situation.
- Deliver effective commercial support, advice, governance, and compliance for business development opportunities including existing & ongoing projects, contracts, and business initiatives. What we are looking for Essential
- Qualified to Degree Level in Quantity Surveying / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical
- Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience of managing and developing a commercial team.
- Experience of managing large and/or complex Electrical / MEP / Engineering projects.
- Relevant experience in a similar level role specifically focused on or electrical services projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of commonly used electrical services systems in the built environment.
- Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, and capable of working to deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge of contract law and demonstrable knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT, FIDIC or similar).
- Excellent numerical and communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including the ability to analyse, interpret & manipulate data.
- A high level of commercial awareness including knowledge of current contract legislation.
- Well organised, with a methodical approach to managing tasks to satisfactory completion with exceptional attention to detail.
- Full Clean Driving Licence Desirable
- RICS or CIOB membership (or similar) or working towards professional accreditation.
- A high level of flexibility, successfully adapts to changing demands, requirements and conditions.
- Motivates and empowers others in order to reach organisational goals.
- Ability to thrive in a highly pressurised and driven environment.
- Creates new and imaginative approaches to work-related issues. Identifies fresh approaches and shows a willingness to question traditional assumptions.
- Collaborative working style, suited to negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes in view of a establishing a strong, and long-term client relationship.
- Experience of working as part of a senior leadership team.
