Full Job Description

  • Ensure Colorectal suspected cancer outpatient and diagnostic appointments are booked within appropriate urgent timeframes to support delivery of the 28 day Faster Diagnosis Standard.
  • Track & chase diagnostic investigations and appointments for all patients on the Colorectal Cancer Cancer pathway within the appropriate timeframes.
  • To be knowledgeable on all cancer waiting times standards and enable the implementation of timed pathways.
  • Work closely with the Colorectal MDT Navigator, providing cross-cover where appropriate.
  • Attend Colorectal cancer 62 day target PTL meetings.
  • Help maintain spreadsheets upon which the PTL is held and reviewed.
  • Work with the Colorectal Clinical and Cancer teams to develop and implement effective and efficient administrative processes for the management of patients on the cancer pathways. Attend the Weekly Colorectal meeting, taking actions where required.
  • Help to develop and maintain office and administrative systems and processes to support the work of the Colorectal Cancer Team.
  • To be in close contact with departmental administrative staff on matters relating to patient pathways, supporting issues where appropriate, which will help improve pathway efficiency.
  • To be confident in suggesting improvements or additions to better serve our patient-focused service.
  • Regularly review and analyse waiting times across Colorectal Cancer pathways, escalating issues where necessary.

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and knowledgeable Colorectal Cancer Pathway Co-ordinator who is excited about the prospect of contributing towards the provision of cancer care at the RUH. The Colorectal Cancer service covers the clinical specialties of General Surgery and Gastroenterology; diagnosing and treating a high number of cancers each year. We are looking for someone who is organised and assertive, with good IT and excel competency to manage our Patient Tracking List (PTL) in close collaboration with the MDT Coordinator and the specialty management teams. The post holder will also need to form good relationships with all relevant clinical and administrative staff. The individual will need to display excellent communication skills and be able to manage their own workload effectively, whilst also responding to the needs of the cancer performance management team.
