Colorectal Advanced Nurse - Urgent Suspected Cancer Pathway

The role will involve the continued development of a diagnostic pathway with potential to work in results clinics, and assist in the delivery of the USC pathway for colorectal and anal cancer. Good knowledge of colorectal disease and investigations, and an understanding of the current referrals pathways is essential.,

• To work alongside the team of colorectal surgeons in assessing and investigating patients referred on the urgent suspected cancer pathway
• To provide highly specialised nursing care for patients with a potential colorectal or anal cancer diagnosis
• To independently undertake nurse led services, either face to face or via telephone clinics to ensure patients are on the appropriate pathway supported by the lead consultant for colorectal cancer
• To provide psychological support to patients and their families
• To work unsupervised within the boundaries of your expertise and with autonomy in the clinical setting (including independently requesting patient investigations where appropriate)
• To assist in the development of the service, by consultation, treatment intervention, complex and highly skilled communication, aftercare, education, training team building and working
• To provide specialist education and training to other staff, patients and carers
• To provide a leading role in clinical audits and actively participate in relevant research studies.
