Full Job Description
We're looking for someone who's passionate about excellence and excited to make beauty and history accessible to everyone. Join us as a Collections and House Manager at Dyrham Park (33.75 hours per week) and help bring this extraordinary place to life.
This is a fixed term contract due to end when the postholder returns to the role. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.
What it's like to work here
The role typically reports to the Curator, and you would also be a part of Dyrham's Property Leadership Team placing you at the heart of decision-making for the property. It's a chance to combine leadership, heritage expertise and creativity in a supportive environment where your work genuinely matters-to the place, the team and every visitor who walks through the doors.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead and support the Collections and House Team, overseeing the care of the collections, managing the daily opening of the house, and ensuring visitors consistently enjoy an excellent experience. You'll maintain outstanding standards in conservation, presentation, and compliance.
By leading from the front, you'll foster a culture of inclusive, high quality service, helping people of all backgrounds connect with conservation, interpretation, and the Trust's values.
You'll also take overall responsibility for the house volunteers, developing their skills and creating an indoor volunteering experience that is as flexible, inclusive, and rewarding as possible.
Proven experience leading and inspiring teams, including volunteers, to deliver excellent results
A strong understanding of caring for historic collections or heritage assets, balancing conservation with public access
Experience managing operations, planning projects and working within budgets
Good knowledge of health, safety and risk management in a public-facing environment
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
You'll also be committed to creating inclusive, accessible experiences and supporting our conservation and sustainability ambitions.
The package
The National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
