CNC Machinist (Mill / Turn)

We are seeking a CNC Machinist specialising in Mill/Turn to plan, set up, and execute high-precision machining activities across defence and aerospace programmes. This is a hands-on manufacturing role, focused on the operation and optimisation of modern 5-axis CNC machining centres to produce complex, tight-tolerance components for safety-critical defence and aerospace systems. Responsibilities Set, operate, and optimise 5-axis CNC milling/turning machines to manufacture complex precision components Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications, including GD&T Produce parts to extremely tight tolerances in materials such as titanium, aluminium, stainless steel, and high-performance alloys Ensure all machining activities comply with aerospace and defence quality standards and procedures Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous process improvement Maintain machine performance through routine checks, maintenance, and good housekeeping Requirements
Strong CNC machining experience with a focus on mill/turn Experience machining for aerospace, defence, motorsport, or similarly regulated industries Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T Solid understanding of tooling, workholding, and cutting strategies Experience using precision inspection equipment Working knowledge of CNC controls such as Siemens, Fanuc, or Heidenhain Preferred Experience / Qualifications Experience using or working alongside HyperMill Experience across prototype, low-volume, and higher-volume precision manufacturing Knowledge of AS9100 or aerospace quality systems Experience in fast-paced R&D or startup environments About Us The mission of Cambridge Aerospace is to eliminate the risk of existential war in Europe.
