Position Overview

Position: CNC Machinist - Miller
Location: Gloucester
Type of role: Permanent

Working hours:

• 2 rotating weeks


• Earlies: Mon-Thurs: 6:00am to 2:00pm & Fridays: 6:00am to 11:30am


• Lates: Mon-Thurs: 2:00pm to 10:00pm & Fridays: 11:30am to 5:00pm

Salary: Up to £40,846, including shift allowance

Overtimes: Paid at premium rate

Job Description

We are looking for a CNC Miller to work for an engineering manufacturing business based in Gloucester. The appropriate candidate would be responsible for machining precision parts for the aerospace sector. You will work as part of a wider team to undertake a variety of CNC duties and produce a wide range of precision components for many industries including automotive (F1), aerospace, military, and transport.

Responsibilities of CNC Setter

• Set and operate Haas/Fanuc-controlled CNC machines


• Work from Technical Drawings


• Install the correct programmes into the machine


• Prepare and load materials and components


• Work to specific tolerances ensuring these are accurate for each operation


• Inspect and measure finished components, recording results using in-process inspection sheets


• Fulfill daily responsibilities using our ERP system (IFS)


• Report any issues to their Supervisor/Manager

Requirements of CNC Setter

• Experience of setting and operating CNC machines - routers and/or milling machines


• Completed relevant apprenticeship in engineering or a minimum of Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds in the relevant field is desirable


• Experience producing precision milled components from a variety of materials, mainly composite, aluminium & plastics


• Confident, independent operation of Fanuc/Haas controlled machines


• Ability to complete ongoing quality documentation, maintaining communication with supervisors and quality operatives


• Understanding use of M and G codes


• Understand basic measurement principles


• Understanding of basic quality & process principles
