Full Job Description
Our Vascular Laboratory offers a full range of advanced vascular ultrasound services. You'll be exposed to a diverse case mix and gain valuable experience with cutting-edge techniques and specialist pathways. What We Offer: You'll be working in a team that performs a comprehensive portfolio of vascular ultrasound investigations, including: Transcranial Doppler imaging for the national paediatric sickle cell screening programme Renal artery and transplant kidney scanning Vascular access assessment for dialysis, including mapping for endo-AVF Diabetic foot workups with pedal arterial imaging and bypass graft surveillance Urgent vasculitis assessments, including GCA pathways All standard carotid, peripheral arterial and venous scanning Please see full advert attached, The principal responsibility of the post holder is to provide technical, scientific and clinical expertise to the vascular ultrasound service and to promptly and accurately produce a comprehensive report of the diagnostic procedures they undertake. To take scientific, technical and clinical responsibility for the quality of the diagnostic procedures and to ensure the adequate training and supervision of all staff employed by, or seconded to, the service in matters of diagnostic accuracy
- Degree in related Science
- AVS accreditation
- SVT membership Desirable
- MSc in Vascular Ultrasound
- Post graduate diploma in Vascular Ultrasound Experience Essential
- Scanning skills in clinical measurements, clinical trials Desirable
- 3 years experience as a vascular scientist
- Research publications
- Training and supervision of junior clinicians
- Management of administration staff Knowledge Essential
- Specialist knowledge of vascular ultrasound diagnostic procedures
- Understanding of responsibilities under clinical governance Skills Essential
- Wordprocessing, CRS/RIS/PACS knowledge
- Spreadsheet and database entry knowledge
- Able to position patients and equipment
- Able to undertake scanning using highly precise probe manipulations for long periods
- Able to concentrate on scanning and reporting within a busy clinic with some interruptions Desirable
- Able to train and supervise trainee vascular scientists and administrators Person Specification Qualifications Essential
