Summary
There are surgical wards used for elective cases and emergency admissions. An Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic is held on weekdays in conjunction with a Gynaecology Assessment Unit. The EPAC is led by senior nurse who performs transvaginal scanning. Regular inpatient and day case operating lists run throughout the week. Emergency cases are booked on CEPOD list. Majority of benign gynaecology surgeries are laparoscopic. There are opportunities to advance laparoscopic skills, hysteroscopy skills and urogynaecology surgeries. There are specialist clinics for Infertility, Colposcopy, Outpatient Hysteroscopy and Urodynamics. The post will be based at the Medway NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, although you will be expected to work at any of the Trust's sites (Sittingbourne and Sheppey Hospital). The job is a combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology rota. On call are full shifts. You will be supported by an on-call consultant who is resident on site from 08:30 to 21:30 and non-resident from 21:30 to 08:30. There is routine ward work, consultant rounds, antenatal clinics, gynaecology outpatient clinics, and operating sessions. We have medical students from Kings College School of Medicine, and Kent and Medway Medical School. The post holder is expected to actively participate in teaching for these medical students. The post holder should actively participate in the different multidisciplinary meetings in the department (CTG meetings, audits, perinatal, etc).
