We are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to step into a combined Clinical Team Leader and Specialist Clinician role within our Paediatric School-Aged Services in Conwy. This role offers the best of both worlds: the chance to lead and develop a dedicated clinical team while continuing to deliver high-level specialist practice. Role Structure Clinical Team Leader - 2 sessions per week Highly Specialist SLT - 8 sessions per week Clinical Team Leader Role:

  • You will play a key role in shaping high-quality services for children and young people across Conwy. You will be responsible for the full range of operational line management duties, including:
  • Providing direct line management to SLTs, working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Service to ensure equitable, high-quality provision.
  • Using strong coaching and facilitative leadership skills to empower colleagues, encouraging innovation and supporting the team to think beyond traditional service models.
  • Working collaboratively with SLT clinical leads to ensure that operation and clinical priorities are aligned.
  • Responding creatively and efficiently to service pressures, ensuring that priorities reflect the needs of the population.
  • Offering strategic oversight of service areas to promote accessibility, consistency, and timely intervention.
  • Main duties of the job Highly Specialist SLT Role: Alongside your leadership duties, you will continue to work as a Highly Specialist SLT, contributing your advanced clinical expertise to support children and families. Key Clinical Responsibilities being:
  • Providing clinical leadership, working closely with Local Authority partners and SLT colleagues to ensure effective, equitable and responsive service delivery.
  • Working collaboratively with SLTs and education staff to support integrated and joined-up practice.
  • Carrying a highly specialist caseload, assessing and developing interventions for children with complex speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Working directly with children and young people, alongside providing training and advice to Specialist Teaching Assistants, mainstream school staff, and other professionals.
  • Leading on service development projects.
  • Providing supervision, guidance, and professional support to SLT colleagues and members of the wider workforce.

  • Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S< HCPC registered Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio., Membership of appropriate clinical network group
  • Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
  • Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate
  • Clinical supervisory skills training, Significant experience clinically in area of specialism
  • Experience of clinical leadership
  • Significant experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams
  • Experience in service development / improvement
  • Delivering Practice Supervision
  • Contributing to Student training, Experience of project management
  • Experience in leading service development / improvement
  • Eperience of operational service management
  • Leadership/management qualification, Excellent interpersonal skills
