Full Job Description
To work as a senior member in an exciting service which has been set up during 2021 and is expanding across Northamptonshire; the Mental Health Support Team (MHST). MHST's are working within schools, ensuring children and young people receive faster access to earlier mental health support. You will be one of the senior clinical members of the team adding to the number of teams in a growing early intervention mental health service. You will be expected to hold a clinical caseload, offer supervision to junior staff, be involved with the Whole School Approach and when necessary and appropriate deputise for the MHST Clinical & Service Leads.
You will be expected to work within a team(s), lead a team(s) and take responsibility to make clinical decisions.
In this role you will support and provide a high-quality service to children and young people (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This will be done through the supervision of Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs)and through direct delivery of evidence based interventions to support the recovery of young people referred to the service, utilising skills and knowledge of CBT and child and adolescent mental health practice, and knowledge of Whole School Approaches to mental health.
If required, you will be expected to undertake further training i.e. EMHP supervisor's Postgraduate Certificate one year course at University of Northampton., To act at all times in accordance with the respective professional Code of Professional Conduct, Trust Policies and occupational protocols.
To contribute to the development and provision of services to children and young people and support co-production and participation.
The post holder will be expected to supervise and offer clinical skills sessions to junior staff and support trainees within the team.
To work with a defined caseload of service users as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing assessment, care planning and care delivery for service users with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This will include the provision of highly skilled professional care, psychological interventions, group work, clinical assessment, risk assessments / risk management, and promoting recovery and inclusion and ensuring co-production with service users, families and carers and the education staff and offering the Whole School Approach.
To provide specialist advice to other members of staff and trainees and act as a role model and to provide consultations and signposting to education settings.
To provide leadership, management and supervision / appraisal for junior staff (and sometimes other members of a multi-disciplinary team) and lead / coordinate / supervise teams of staff in the delivery and evaluation of care.
