Full Job Description

The Trust currently employs 6 Undergraduate Clinical Teaching Fellows in various specialties as well as a midwifery tutor.,

  • Maintain clinical practice for 1/2 day per week (or 1 day per fortnight) within the base specialty.
  • Support the Director and Deputy Directors of Undergraduate Medical Education in delivering undergraduate teaching programmes.
  • Plan, organise and deliver Year 4 and Year 5 teaching, including Introduction and Orientation Modules (IOM), bedside teaching, tutorials, lectures, clinical skills, simulation and case-based discussions.
  • Contribute to formative and summative assessments, including OSCEs and CPSA examinations.
  • Lead an educational quality improvement project aligned with the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) strategy, ensuring sustainable improvements to the student experience.
  • Develop simulation-based learning, procedural skills training and Foundation Programme teaching aligned with undergraduate education.
  • Lead the Student Education Tutor (SET) mentoring programme and contribute to undergraduate faculty meetings.
  • Provide pastoral support to medical students, responding appropriately to confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on educational activities, using data to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Undertake educational research, disseminating findings through presentations or publications.
  • Maintain a teaching portfolio, participate in appraisal and professional development, and collaborate with Trust and partner organisations to share best practice and enhance undergraduate medical education.

Teaching takes place across a wide range of clinical settings, including wards, outpatient departments, the Undergraduate Centre, Clinical Skills Centre and the Library, providing students with a diverse and supportive learning environment.
