Clinical Support Worker - Ward 35 Respiratory

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to join the team on Ward 35 Respiratory at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Ward 35 is a busy 27-bedded acute respiratory ward. We are a friendly and supportive team committed to providing high-quality care and achieving the best possible outcomes for our patients.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate individuals with previous care experience and the flexibility to work a range of day and night shifts.

You will receive a comprehensive induction programme, together with ongoing training and development opportunities throughout your career. Support will be provided through regular supervision, structured appraisals, and opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge within the role.

Work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients within the agreed scope of the Clinical Support Worker role.

Deliver direct patient care, including assisting with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, oral care, toileting, continence care, and maintaining patient dignity at all times.

Support patients with dietary requirement, monitoring intake where required, and assisting patients to meet their nutritional and hydration needs.

Assist patients with mobility and positioning, promoting independence where possible and supporting the prevention and management of pressure ulcers.

Observe and report changes in patients' physical or mental condition to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.

Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable ward environment, ensuring patient safety and wellbeing at all times.

Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering high standards of care and a positive patient experience.

Maintain accurate documentation and comply with Trust policies, procedures, and infection prevention and control standards.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
