Full Job Description

Whilst proud of the heritage, the focus isthe future and central to the vision is providing evidence-based individualised care to the people caredfor within the Trust.The role of nursing assistant is highly valued within the Trust with the opportunity to progress for thosewishing to develop beyond that of a senior nursing assistant, opportunities include the assistantpractitioner, the nursing associate and the registered nursing degree apprenticeships. We are looking for a full time band 3 clinical support worker, as a member of the team in this enhanced role, you will support and work closely with registered practitioners and anaesthetists, contributing to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the theatre department and phlebotomy service. This will beundertaken whilst maintaining the dignity and privacy of all patients and respecting their right toconfidentiality. You will be expected to complete the care certificate if you have not already done so or provide evidenceof prior achievement and demonstrate that you have achieved and are maintaining the attitudes behaviours and knowledge required to care for our patients to a high standard via self-assessment andobservations. In addition, you will be required to complete and maintain any occupationally relevant proficiencies.,
- Undertake a range of delegated and specific clinical skills for patients that demonstrate an enhanced level of competency /technical expertise. (Including care in anaesthetic room and phytotomy).
- Prepare patients, families/carers and the environment for clinical activities supporting and reassuring patients and their families/carers and preparing specific equipment as necessary.
- Monitor closely patients having undergone a clinical activity ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing.
- Contribute to, understand and report identified patient risk assessments.
- Report and raise concerns in relation to poor practice, attitude and behaviour of any health careprofessional through appropriate channels.
- Undertake patient transfer and escort duties between departments as appropriate as per policy.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families/carers, recognising there may be a need to utilisealternative methods of communication. Where there are barriers to understanding, arrange accessto information, support and other services to aid effective communication.
- Greet all patients and visitors to the department with courtesy and respect, being mindful of agespecific body language and tone of voice. Demonstrate sensitivity and empathy.
- Answer telephone calls and bleeps appropriately and efficiently, accurately relaying messages toboth colleagues and patients using SBARR as appropriate.
- Maintain professional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues.
