Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and conscientious Clinical Support Assistant (CSA) to join the Site CSA Team. The successful candidate will provide a Trust-wide clinical support service, undertaking venepuncture, cannulation, and ECGs across a variety of clinical areas. In addition, the post holder will provide cover within the Phlebotomy Clinic as required, supporting the delivery of a safe, effective, and timely service for patients. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to working, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality patient care and maintaining professional standards at all times. The role is based on 12-hour shifts (07:00 to 19:30), predominantly working weekdays, Monday to Friday.,

  • Undertaking venepuncture, cannulation, and ECG procedures across the Trust.
  • Providing cover and support within the Phlebotomy Clinic as required.
  • Supporting clinical teams in delivering efficient patient care.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the organisation., The Clinical Support Assistant will provide a Trust-wide clinical support service, undertaking a range of clinical procedures to support patient care and the effective delivery of services across the Trust., Undertaking venepuncture, cannulation, and ECG procedures across inpatient wards and clinical departments.
  • Providing support and cover within the Phlebotomy Clinic, ensuring timely blood sample collection and maintaining a high-quality service for patients.
  • Responding to requests from clinical teams in a timely and professional manner.
  • Accurately recording procedures and maintaining patient records in line with Trust policies and professional standards.
  • Ensuring blood samples are correctly labelled, handled, and transported in accordance with Trust procedures.
  • Maintaining clinical competencies and adhering to infection prevention and control, health and safety, and safeguarding requirements.
  • Providing reassurance and support to patients throughout procedures, promoting a positive patient experience.
  • Working collaboratively with nursing, medical, and allied health professional teams across the Trust.
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting any faults or issues appropriately.


  • The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, prioritise their workload effectively, and demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the service in a fast-paced environment.
