Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist- Trauma& Orthopaedics 12 months fixed term - MaternityCover, An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Trauma and Orthopaedics therapy team at St Peter's Hospital. The therapy team treat a wide variety of orthopaedic trauma conditions such as, fractured femurs, spinal fractures, upper limb trauma, complex elective surgery and Ilizarov frame surgery. There is excellent multi-disciplinary team working on the orthopaedic ward with this post leading the therapy team alongside our Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate leadership skills and utilise advanced clinical assessment, reasoning and discharge planning skills on a diverse caseload.You will provide supervision and assist in the development of junior staff, assistants and an OT apprentice. You will participate in service development and be proficient in balancing clinical and operational demands. The post holder will be supported to develop their knowledge and skills through formal supervision and appraisal. There will also be internal and external training opportunities. Part time/ flexible working options considered., The main duties of this role includes: Take a leading role in the advanced assessment, treatment and management of patients after orthopaedic surgery. Be responsible for the day to day operational delivery of therapy services to the orthopaedic wards. Work autonomously as an expert clinician, liaising effectively with other health professionals to ensure evidence based delivery of service within professional scope of practice. Complex discharge planning for orthopaedic patients Provide leadership in specialist field and be a key contributor to quality improvement, research and audit. Support staff development and training across professional and organisational boundaries.
